Well-established but never ceasing in evolution, Prada unveil an exciting addition to their family - a new store on Corso Venezia, Milan, amalgamating environment, architecture, and the Prada Made to Order collection.
Architect, Robert Baciocchi has completely redesigned and renovated the shop on the stylish street – home to the most high-end designer names - which promises to revolutionise the concept of buying and selling. The brand will launch a new range of clothing, bags, footwear and accessories for both men and women exclusively for the store, even translating some of the womenswear pieces into menswear.
The setting and location of Prada, 3 Corso Venezia more than rivals the visual delights of its products. The store’s alternating marble and wooden floors, metal display cases, colourful perforated steel walls, and saffiano and wood curtains create an innovative interior. Customers will journey through the shop floor, into a large glass cube, and finally arrive outdoors, in a space that will act as the perfect venue for exhibitions and events.
The focal point of the new store will be the exclusive Made to Order service, the aim of which is to take the personalisation of clothing to the next level. Almost every product in the store - from bags and shoes to puffer jackets and the classic “White Prada” t-shirts and boxer shorts - is available to order in several different colours and materials, and can be customised with customers’ initials. For example, customers can choose their favourite style of denim jeans, then pick the fabric, wash, seams and stitching. Even the colour of the label is up for negotiation, bringing absolute exclusivity to the Prada patron.
For dedicated fans of the brand, however, the most exciting part of this venture will surely be the menswear made to measure shirt range. Three basic shirt cuts are on offer: classic, semi-fitted or slim-fit with darts. Putting a contemporary spin on a classic Prada staple, customers can choose from the six collar shapes and five cuffs styles available, as well adding further important details, such as embroidered monograms plus a pocket or a topstitched pleat. Further choice comes in the form of the wide variety of colour combinations and signature Prada fabrics - including the ‘Precious’ collection of exclusive cotton, micro chevron and cashmere twill, the ‘Vintage’ re-edition prints from 2001-2008 in silk and cotton, the popular ‘Classic’ fabrics, and the ‘White’ range, a variety of indispensable white shirts. The overall result is the utmost in high quality bespoke tailoring. Cat Tsang
