BRINGING a touch of sunshine to early spring, Virgil Abloh has unveiled his forthcoming menswear capsule collection for Louis Vuitton, a three-fold line-up reflecting the three moods of dawn, dusk and twilight.
At sunrise, pastel-hued suits, Hawaiian shorts and shirts, Japanese denim and monogrammed loungewear with a dreamy watercolour print are revealed, modelled in part by American rapper 21 Savage, whose casual energy serves as an embodiment of the collection.
Short suits and indigo pyjamas follow, at the appearance of twilight, modelled alongside lightweight leather blousons and jacquard blazers as well as joyful psychedelic windbreakers, embroidered shirts and crisp denim plastrons that referenced some of Abloh’s favourite West Coast artists and skaters.
The collection includes a host of vibrant accessories. There are backpacks, tote bags and face masks elevated with a watercolour Monogram, enamelled rings and playful link bracelets, reversible belts and a selection of trainers, slip-ons and boat shoes that provide the finishing touch to the summer-ready silhouettes.
Many pieces in the collection were designed with the environment’s welfare specifically in mind. Colours were derived without the use of chlorine or metals and the cotton used was certified by the Better Cotton Initiative or the Global Organic Textile Standard, further strengthening the brand’s global commitment to producing 100% of its products under an eco-design strategy by 2025.
