Christie’s unveil latest auction, 20 Years in Mayfair, with George Club


TWO OF Mayfair’s most elusive names, Christie’s and George Club, have joined forces with an auction that details the history of West London’s emblem of high society. 

It’s a partnership that seems as natural as it does grand, the meeting of two of the capital’s most prestigious names. Marking 20 years of the members club, Christie’s have opened an auction that tells a story of modern British upper class, while showcasing an expert curation of modern art.

From neon designs by Tracey Emin, photographs by Slim Aarons and prints and exhibitions posters created by David Hockney, the collection boasts some of the biggest names in 20th/21st century art, with pieces dating from recent years to the post-war era.

The auction, consisting of 71 lots, pre-empts the reopening of George Club in summer of this year following the establishments brief closure due to refurbishment.
