The newly opened St. Regis Chendgu Hotel is offering guests an intriguing insider experience featuring Shu brocade, one of China’s most ancient traditions, with a Shu fabric weaving experience. Chengdu has a rich history of more than 2,000 years of hand-woven brocade craft, worn by emperors and royal families throughout Chinese history, and is one of the most important cultural traditions in China.
The masterclass experience includes a private evening tour of the Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum, a Shu fabric weaving lesson from a master, a guided immersive tour of the museum’s complex and a private shopping experience. Guests are transported in a chauffeur-driven limousine, with any Shu brocade purchases being hand-delivered to the hotel the same evening.
