Best Dressed at the 2026 Met Gala

ON 4 May 2026, the Met Gala 2026 returns to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where fashion and art meet with considered poise. This year’s theme, Fashion is Art, accompanies the Costume Institute’s Spring 2026 exhibition, curated by lead specialist Andrew Bolton, and offers a quietly radical proposition: that the dressed body is central to how we see, remember and interpret 5,000 years of visual culture.

By placing historical and contemporary garments in dialogue with paintings, sculpture and artefacts, the exhibition traces three archetypes: the classical and nude, the overlooked ageing and pregnant, and the universal anatomical form. Expect a red carpet that reflects this intellectual elegance: less spectacle, more substance, and a renewed attention to the body as both canvas and storyteller.

Here are GLASS‘ Best Dressed.
