BURBERRY marks its 170th anniversary with portraits of 170 people in London, New York, Seoul and Shanghai. Photographed by Jack Day, 170: The Anniversary Portraits features a host of people, from artists, musicians and local residents to Burberry employees wearing the house’s outerwear, with a film directed by Hector Aponysus.
The campaign revisits the idea behind Burberry’s 2009 Art of the Trench project, which documented how different people wear its coats in their everyday lives. Among the London cast is Ruthie Rogers, chef and co-founder of The River Café, alongside model and nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson. Theatre director Jamie Lloyd, whose productions include Sunset Boulevard, also appears, as do musician Arlo Parks and models Lila Moss, Jean Campbell and Pat Cleveland.

Students, teachers and shop owners feature alongside members of the Burberry team, including Erica Sunwoo, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Asia Pacific, photographed in Seoul. Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee says: “For 170 years, our outerwear has adapted to the weather and the way we dress. Each portrait is different, but together they capture individuality and self-expression.”
The collection covers trenches, car coats, cashmere, puffers and quilted jackets; the Kensington Heritage Trench has a structured shape and set-in sleeves, while the Waterloo has a softer line and raglan shoulders. The men’s Camden Heritage Car Coat keeps things simple, with a single-breasted cut and concealed buttons.

There’s also a Kensington jacket in burgundy nappa leather and a cashmere cape, along with the men’s Hastings coat, which comes in brushed grey cashmere. For chillier weather, the Highlands and Ambleside puffers have goose down and feather filling and packaway hoods; the Highlands features a tonal check woven into glossy nylon, and the Ambleside pairs yarn-beige House Check with black zip detailing. So, there’s plenty to choose from whatever the forecast has in store.
