Fendi launches FF Vertigo capsule collection in collaboration with Sarah Coleman

CELEBRATING the start to the summer season, Fendi are launching a collection dedicated to the joyful, bright nature of this time. Infused with tones of yellow and baby blue, the summer 2021 capsule spans from the classic bags and funky accessories, to ready-to-wear catering for men, women and children – F does stand for family after all.

Referencing the seventies and hinting at the freedom that was celebrated in the nineties, the two come together and are executed by the outstanding ateliers of the Italian fashion house. Asking artist Sarah Coleman to come back once again to collaborate, after her hugely successful partnership with Fendi during Design Miami, the New York-based artist with menswear and accessories creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi, have reworked the FF logo pattern with psychedelic filters. The product of this explosion of disruption is FF Vertigo.

Through printing with ink jet technology on tanned leather, the yellow FF Vertigo sees itself manifest onto the Peekaboo as well as on a resistant coated canvas and jacquard fabric. Both can be seen on the new Fendi Baguette 1997, a re-edition of the classic that neatly fits under the arm.

A notable bag of the collection is the Mini Sunshine Shopper that is constructed out of coloured straw adorned with the Fendi Roma logo.

Another addition to the collaboration with Coleman is the FF Fisheye, a new take on the FF logo which sees itself morph into a wavy and fluid shape just as if it had been seen through a fisheye lens – hence the name. Lastly, Coleman and Fendi are unveiling a new Peekaboo ISeeU inspired by the project showcased at Design Miami, but this time the bag is coming in a smaller version – growing the Peekaboo ISeeU family by one more.

After our time indoors over the past year, it is time for an adventure and Fendi are going to be there every step of the way. Think multi-pocket skirts, cargo pants matched with feminine bodysuits and draped FF Vertigo pattern – as well as one-piece swimsuits, bikinis and lace dresses.

For menswear, the same cocktail of elegance and utility are mixed with bermuda trousers, fisherman’s vests and bowling shirts are juxtaposed with light-weight suits and tailored raincoats for those chilly nights. When it comes to the kids, think mini-me versions.

Highlights of the FF Vertigo collection are the Forever Fendi Timepieces that come in two new versions adorned with the mutli-coloured FF Fisheye patterns; with either a luminescent dial and white leather strap, or a yellow sunray opalin dial with sapphire crystals on steel.

On top of this display of excellent craftsmanship, an array of limited-edition items are unveiled from a polaroid camera, a food Bento box in collaboration with Alessi and some camping equipment including the likes of a tent and technical backpack executed with the help of specialist Ferrino.

From 20 May, London’s Selfridges will have a dedicated pop-up for this special collection to bring the adventure to you.
