Glass celebrates the Jubilee Week with Regency Afternoon Tea by Lily Vanilli at The Lane

AS WE begin the Jubilee Week celebrations, Theatre Royal Drury Lane does not disappoint offering a range of exciting activities including an ultimate royal experience with a Regency Afternoon Tea by Lily Vanilli in the heart of London.

The London-based self-taught Baker Lily Vanilli has been recognized for her unique cake designs and worked with clients such as Elton John, Madonna, Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood and many others. For this occasion, she has prepared a truly unforgettable feast, with an immaculate attention to detail adding a regal touch to the classic tea offering.

The Regency Afternoon Tea is served in the Grand Saloon. The high ornate ceiling, dazzling chandeliers and fine art create a truly ravishing atmosphere and enhance the overall experience.

Beginning with a savoury treats the Tea starts with madeleines with lapsang-souchong glazed salmon and pickled fennel, a classic signature Lily Vanilli puff pastry sausage roll and a cannelés with whipped ricotta and pickled beetroot. There is also a Vegan Option available with a vegan whipped mascarpone, soya-based ‘salmon’, which perfectly imitates the texture and flavour of the fish and a vegan sausage roll, probably one of the best ones I have tried so far.

Followed by warm scones with salted whipped butter, cream, and homemade strawberry jam and finally, the showstopper, the selection of the most beautiful cakes with the signature decadent dark chocolate sponge cake with lilac buttercream finish and decorative gold crowns.

The experience is priced at £49 per person or £57 pp if you want to treat yourself and opt for a glass of Taittinger champagne.

Queens Punch at Cecil Bar

For the celebration of Her Majesty’s Jubilee, Theatre Royal Drury Lane also offers interactive, actor-lead tours where the guests are able to find out more about The Lane’s lavish past and see the most incredible interiors. The experience is celebrated with a special drink The Queen’s Punch created specifically for this occasion with Dubonnet, gin and earl grey finished with ginger ale – combining quintessentially British flavours.
