AFTER months of pandemic-induced isolation and social-distancing that continues to endure today, there is one basic human pleasure that, beyond everything, we all seem to miss the most; contact.
For their second co-designed collection, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons took a deep dive into our shared need to feel through clothes that flawlessly capture the freedom of the human body.

Set to an electrifying soundtrack by British-Canadian electronic artist, Plastikman, the men’s collection, entitled Possible Feelings, took place in a space defined by contrasts. Models stormed through isolated passages constructed from solid marble and resin interwoven with panels of faux-fur that came together to create a fantastically-textured backdrop.

The garments themselves showcase similar polarity, through second-skin fabrics and layering. Geometric-patterned jacquard knits are figure-hugging and came styled alone or layered under classic pinstripe wool suiting.

Single and double-breasted coats were boxy and executed in exquisite leathers and bouclé while bomber jackets in rich shades spun the roomy silhouette in a different direction with an oversized fit and slouchy sleeves.

The duo’s exploration of touch was emphasised further through the collection’s accessories; satisfyingly sleek backpacks were carried under the arm and punctuated with the brand’s iconic hardware, featuring alongside supple leather gloves with handy zip-up purselets.

As opposed to last season’s offering, which struck an elegant balance between both of the designer’s signature aesthetics, Prada’s FW21 collection had Raf decidedly at the reins. Sleek, sumptuous and full of attitude, the collection surpassed all expectations and, reminded us, in our current time, to persevere, to a future where we can all experience the irreplaceable stimulation of tactility once again.
