Glass unwinds after London Fashion Week

FOLLOWING the excitement of London Fashion Week, the Glass team enjoys an evening together to wind down in East London.

The occasion celebrates an impressive London Fashion Week coming to an end, as well as the recent release of the autumn issue of Glass and Glass Man.

The evening begins with the team making their way to One Crown Place, where we have the pleasure to have a sit-down dinner in a relaxing setting, nestled between the City and Shoreditch.

As we arrive, we are greeted by the courteous team who kindly explained that we will be having dinner in the Residents Lounge, on the 7th floor. On the way to the private dining room, we take a moment to take in the views and are in awe of the impressive sights from the venue, overseeing the city lights and the night sky. The space is abundant with artworks and colourful libraries, fit for anyone’s homes.

We start with English sparkling wines before sampling dishes from Sun Street Hotel’s on-site restaurant Quercus, best known to serve Southeast Asian inspired cuisine with fine British produce.

The chefs created a beautiful menu with nice wine pairings for the Glass team, starting with seared diver scallop with beef bacon crisp, celeriac, and black truffle.

Followed by braised ‘Panch Poran’ Beef Rib with sticky rice and sesame snake beans and finishing with the refreshing dessert of papaya and tapioca kek with kaya jam and papaya jelly – which for me, felt like I had been transported back to the streets of home in Malaysia. The dishes were all sensational, complimented with ‘oohs’ and ‘wows’ across the table.

After a fulfilling dinner, we head down to the Club room of Sun Street Hotel to extend our evening into the late night. We spend the rest of the evening trialling more signature drinks and cocktails inspired by Google Bird, an illustrated book of children’s verse by Vincent Cartwright Vickers.

The cosy dark space next to The Bar with plenty of comfortable armchairs, sofas and fascinating artworks makes it the perfect place to relax with a glass to hand.

This is definitely a special place in London, and also a special night for the Glass team to remember.
