Helmut Lang releases volume II of photo series Seen By Helena Tejedor

CONTINUING their tradition of renewal through collaboration, Helmut Lang presents the second segment in a three-part series titled Seen by Helena Tejedor. Each part sees Tejedor work with another creative to reinterpret the brand’s autumn-winter 2020 and resort 2021 collection. This time she teams up with long-time brand collaborator Paul Mpagi Sepuya.

Helena Tejedor, who is a Paris-based stylist and creative-director, spoke about the American artist, “Paul Mpagi Sepuya has been on my mind for a while, the intimacy, created with fingerprints or smudges in his pictures, the eroticism of his movements and the glimpses of that studio are some of the things that have really impacted me when I have looked at his work.”

Over the course of the summer, Tejedor explains that the two exchanged ideas, however due to the restrictions imposed on us all due to Covid-19, she was not able to travel to Los Angeles. Frustrated due to missing the chance to watch Paul work, the outcome was a raw piece of art – just the mirror, and him and his camera.

The series of photographs that came from this showcased the Helmut Lang Resort 2021 menswear collection. Paying close attention to the silhouettes and detailing in the poses, Sepuya is able to show the versatility of the collection.
