Hublot conquers the world of Judo with new Big Bang Unico Judo Special Edition timepiece

HUBLOT have built a reputation for providing the best sportsmen with the best timepieces, and their latest collaboration is no exception. After dominating sports such as football, athletics and Formula 1 to name just a few, the luxury Swiss watchmaker is now setting its sights on the realm of Judo.

Judoka Alexander Wieczerzak and Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe

To do so, they have collaborated with two-time World Champion Alexander Wieczerzak to create a special edition timepiece, entitled Big Bang Unico Judo. The German athlete has been a member of his country’s Judo team since 2012, and has overcome broken ribs, debilitating illness and heartbreaking defeat to become World No 1. Wieczerzak shares the same drive, determination and tenacity that inspires the luxury watchmaker to continue as a pioneer in their own field. Together, they have created a timepiece that is both innovative and strong in its design, function and quality.

The Big Bang Unico Judo is composed of a 45 mm case of titanium, featuring a geometric design and a selection of two straps inspired by the bold colours of Judo: a black piece with seven decorative seams and a white piece made of calfskin with decorative red seams.

The watch also features an open case back, featuring details that prove the “special” part of its name to be true. The exposed UNICO movement — patented by Hublot — is exposed beneath the athletes signature and a decorative Judo belt image, featuring a Japanese flag and the words Go 2020 — a reference to the next sporting event that Wieczerzak’s has set his sights on: The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Only fifty timepieces have been crafted for this special release, and each watch is accompanied by a specially made box that includes an original, authentic autographed card and black judo belt embroidered with Hublot on one side and Wieczerzak on the other. This piece is a true keepsake for those who follow Judo or share both Hublot and Wieczerzak’s affinity for a life full of passion, dedication and an uncompromising drive towards their craft.
