Lacoste SS14

It was all about the hard lines of the tennis court for Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s SS14 Lacoste collection – it began with the contrast piping that navigated its way over the block colours, this gradually got bolder, culminating in strong clean lines of sheer and opaque in his dresses.
Tennis was key, not only with the piping that recreated the lines of the court, but also through the A-line skirts, shorts, sports jackets in technical materials such as organza like nylon and double-faced mesh which emanated a clear sporting motif.
The silhouettes were casual, held together by the strong lines, particularly with the all white looks comprising of relaxed tailoring and transparency, giving the notion of a breezy summer afternoon tangibility Baptista has kept the collection light and carefree with the use of jersey crepes and brushed cottons, exposing the flesh, and engulfing the models in organza-esque fabric giving air and light to his SS14 collection. The tailoring and faded colour scheme transported us to a tennis lawn somewhere in the hazy, hazy Hamptons on a long summer’s day.
