LFW AW17: Annderstand

ROMANTIC Revolution was the theme of Annderstand’s second Fashion Scout show for LFW AW17. Chinese-born Ge Yu, who founded the label in 2015, combined ’90s London street style with influences from rock music for the AW17 collection.

Opening the show with a military style, drummer-boy cape in rich indigo with gold brocade detailing on the front, the collection was introduced with a cutting edge yet wearable look.

The bolder designs were tempered by pieces like a dusty pink, double-breasted overcoat worn as a dress. Simple, lady like ensembles more suited for day-time emphasised the romantic part of the collection’s theme.

A black dress with floral trim and a high neck, was another example of Annderstand’s softer looks.

Collaborations with other designers and creatives are part of the Annderstand ethos. This season the designer contributed a leopard print that was used on various pieces in the collection. Most memorable was a coat with this pattern worn by a model with her bra exposed.

Finally, the standout piece in the collection was a white trouser suit with sharp tailoring and black ribbon corsetry detailing on the back of the blazer successfully.

Annderstand seeks to fuse East with West and provide a wardrobe for the international, urban woman. This collection  achieved this very well. Though inspired by London, it would translate well to other cosmopolitan locales .
