LFW AW21: Marques’ Almeida

THIS season, Marques’ Almeida presented M’A x Nenny, a virtual performance by Portuguese rapper Nenny, blended with her thoughts on her music and on the Marques’ Almeida pieces she is performing in.

The presentation mimicked a Mac screen: individual windows, Photo Booth, film clips and images popped up in a consistently shifting collage. In each periphery window Nenny danced in a Marques’ Almeida AW21 look, as the central window displayed her performance. The piece read as a tongue-in-cheek take on a virtual fashion week, a mode of delivery that was at once casual and experimental.

The collection featured Marques’ Almeida’s characteristic denim, and ruffled, sculptural silhouettes. Nenny was styled in a series of mini length dresses and calf-high boots. The pieces are expressive and experimental, fitting for this ongoing collaboration between brand and artist that embodies “what the brand is all about.

Empowering young artists’ creative expression while they literally bring the clothes into life, strengthening bonds within the community and connecting people and ideas”.
