LFW SS16: Ashish

If there was only one word to describe the Ashish SS16 show that nearly ended London Fashion Week, “shiny” comes to mind. Anything that sparkled, glittered or shined was strutted down the runway with miles of sheer, or denim, flowing behind it.

The collection opened with a pair of dolled-up men armed to the teeth with the most flamboyant and shimmering of sequins. This pattern of sheer fabrics embellished with anything colourful and sparkling continued throughout the collection while also introducing other lightweight fabrics and denims.

The men did make a few more guest appearances throughout the show, but for the most part it revolved around the ladies. Even with all of the sparkle there was a skate-girl vibe to everything. More than likely because of the addition of skateboards to the models’ looks. The boards did not quite outshine the layers of sequins on the heads of the models, but it was a more modest addition.

The show did have one mishap, all the models came rolling out on their boards to end the show on a high note, and one had the unfortunate luck of having her straps fall down. Thankfully the show already had a few flashes of chest and the girl fit right in, it made the show feel even more “I don’t care” skater girl. It was a fun flirty collection for any girl that likes to feel pretty while wearing beaten up trainers.
