Believing that this re-imagination pushes the concept of sustainability to edge, the classic silhouette, originally created by Virgil Abloh, is made up from 90% recycled and bio-sourced materials. The sneakers are manufactured in the Louis Vuitton workshop, located in Flesso d’Artico, Italy, and follow a greatly complex process to seamlessly blend the eco-design with the finest of craftsmanship. The French House are proudly responding to the codes of circular creativity throughout this new collection.

As a key player in the sportswear world, the question of whether comfort would be compromised upon this change in materials – the brand discovered that the answer is no. Not a single part is compromised in Louis Vuitton’s standards for quality as the sole of the shoe is composed of 94%, unprecedented, recycled polyurethane, which ensures that the bounce, cushion, and foot support from the original model is carried through. This is also helped by using recycled cotton inner pads and having an insole made from fully recycled polyurethane.

For the upper, an impressive blend of recycled polyester and a corn-based plastic material is displayed; the laces are made from used plastic; the tongue is also recycled polyester, and the eyelets contain 91% regenerated polyurethane. Every tiny detail has been thoroughly challenged and changed for the better – and this exceptional showcase is definitely a sprint in the right direction.

Finally, the packaging of the range boasts an equally profound recreation as it is made entirely from recycled and recyclable cardboard which can even be turned into a bag!

All the inks used are plant-based and follow a strategy which can save as much as 70% in materials to ensure the lowest environmental impact in terms of transportation and storage. The felt shoe bag included inside is made from renewable fibres from sustainably managed forests, proving that protection for your new footwear doesn’t have to come at a high cost.
