MFWM AW22: Tod’s

DEBUTED in a video presentation filmed at the historic Rivoli Castle in Italy, the Tod’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection demonstrates just how luxurious outerwear can really be. Models sport fur-lined bomber jackets and pea coats against a backdrop of marble and Italian art.

The collection consists of a neutral colour palette emphasising greys, tans and forest green. Models are cloaked in layers of knitwear and winter accessories, topped off with a selection of different outerwear styles.

The knitwear designs range from chunky, turtle neck sweaters woven with various earth tone colours to create a speckled pattern to a fair isle knitted, form-fitting collarless cream jumper. Cashmere athleisure is also a prominent and comfy theme throughout the collection.

Walter Chiapponi, Tod’s creative director, utilised shearling and suede frequently in the Fall/Winter 2022 lineup. Forest green shearling covers a  leather jacket paired with a suede tweed patterned athleisure set.

A chocolate suede blouson is layered over a similarly coloured ribbed turtle neck and tan corduroy button-up with pants to match.

Details instil playfulness into the collection. House motifs such as the ‘T Lion’ logo and beloved ‘T Timeless’ symbol embellish the footwear, including the infamous W.G. loafer and leather sneakers. A pair of leather pants with laces up the leg and a painting of a vintage car on the back of a jacket offer a modern edge.

Tod’s writes that‘a creativity that reinvents itself in every period and evolves by looking to the future without ever losing sight of its inherent aesthetic’ is the driving force behind the garments. The collection exhibits the brand’s historic craftsmanship while simultaneously inviting the playfulness of modern-day menswear.
