Milan Menswear AW15: Calvin Klein Collection

An omnipresent grey climate hasn’t made the Calvin Klein man as pallid as you would expect this season, on the contrary, he may be moody but he’s just as insatiable and up for it as always. Going greyscale on us, creative director Italo Zucchelli sampled all the greys on the chart for his many variations on menswear cuts that are high impact even before the collection reaches its gussied-up PVC pant and aviator jacket section.

As has become common elsewhere this season, to the delight of some and the dismay of others, trousers were hitched up high at Calvin and the top half followed suit, with many jackets going north and sculpting the upper body better than any gym workout. Other grand gestures included billowy capes and new patterns that on second glance you will realise are indeed leopard print to give an extra special, but not too blingy, edge to AW15.

Nothing has been getting in-between Calvin Klein and the astronomical press a certain new boxer short ad campaign starring a certain notorious teeny-bopper has amassed recently, it’s nice then for the fashion pack to have something that deflects the attention away from their choice of cover-boy and puts the focus firmly on quality menswear. Either way, this is a brand that is developing exceedingly well and we look forward to seeing where they will go as time goes on.
