MIU MIU have released new film to accompany their Croisière 2019 campaign. In a short created by filmmaking collective Call This Number, Miu Miu’s girl gang motif is reborn, as the intentionally lo-fi silhouettes of its latest members are superimposed onto quick fire clips of classic Parisian scenes. The filmography follows the classic retro styling Call This Number are known for, an intoxicating bricolage of Parisian imagery and trendsetting models.
Gwendoline Christie in the Miu Miu Croisière 2019 Campaign film
Each clip connects to one another like a series of picture postcards, or different images on a strip of developed photography film. The Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triumph, the Centre Pompidou and more locations archetypal to the Parisian consciousness all feature as a backdrop for the models and fashion, proposing a supposed reality – suggesting the idea of the real in such a surreal production.
Adriana Lima in the Miu Miu Croisière 2019 Campaign film
The same cast of women perform in the runway show, print campaign and this enigmatic filmic piece – actress Gwendoline Christie and models Naomi Chin Wing, Lucan Gillespie, Taylor Hill, Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima, Ariel Nicholson, Cami You Ten, Zoe Thaets.
Taylor Hill in the Miu Miu Croisière 2019 Campaign film
This bricolage of silhouettes and Parisian scenes is deliberately complicated, tangling the featured cast of women using the romantic location as a whimsical backdrop. The print campaign features the models posing in different outfits in the rotating door of the Hôtel Regina – where the Miu Miu Croisière 2019 show was staged – capturing the multiple identities encapsulated within the Miu Miu woman.
