PFW AW18: Off-White

THE OFF-WHITE RTW AW18 womenswear collection West Village showcased a series of extravagant looks suitable to be worn in the New York City neighbourhood. Bella Hadid opened the show wearing an all-in-one corset over a white shirt, in a turquoise print featuring two men riding horseback in a tropical location. This print was applied to multiple silhouettes including a blazer and trouser set and a bandeau dress

The equestrian influence was evident from the models’ hair being tucked behind their ears and the high boots riding. Diverging from the theme, hoods were worn instead of helmets. Blazers were boxy, but also appeared in the form of leotards.

Accompanied by neutral tones and a hint of red, the colour palette was mainly blue, matching the runway the models walked on. Through gathering and merging different cuts and fabrics, Virgil Abloh created a range of different asymmetrical silhouettes. To no one’s surprise, he followed on from his SS18 collection and included a ruffle tulle gown in cream.

Standout accessories included black rectangle sunglasses and the bulky reflective cross body bag. In the finale, the models did another lap of the runway and gathered on the staircase to be joined by Abloh after he greeted his audience.
