OOZING opulence, eccentricity and exuberance, Paco Rabanne’s AW21 collection Revisits The Exquisite. Showcasing dazzling embellishments and detailed layering where bourgeois and aristocratic notes take a strong stance, the collection celebrates empowerment through strong female characters.
Artistic director Julien Dossena shoots the collection against vibrant patterned and floral wallpaper evoking a vintage-like atmosphere. Models jump in front of the camera which is played in slow motion, emphasising both the flowy and lightweight fabrics as well as the energetic aura of the collection.
Silhouettes are either unrestricted in A-line dresses and skirts, inspired by the 1970s, or are more refined through tailored suits, emulating circa-1940s designs, celebrating both individuality and charm.
Self-indulgence and pleasure sit at the heart of the collection. These concepts are manifested in rich fabrics, ranging from smooth satin and vibrant velvet to Paco Rabanne’s iconic metallics that are featured in shades of silver, navy and emerald green. Other fabrics include tweed and check which are seen on knee-length coats, completed with a generous layer of faux fur that extends into a snug, luxe hood.
3D jewels and embellishments become showstoppers of the collection. Sitting on necklines, draped across upper body clothing or ornamenting metal mesh, the stunning jewels elevate the collection to an unprecedented level of sophistication and allure.
Paco Rabanne also certainly does not forget the details. Dainty detailing is exhibited through frilly collars and the ends of sleeves, large bows that accentuate the waist, pearl buttoning and T-bar shoes.
While the AW21 collection moulds day and evening wear, it is sure to convey that when it comes to glamour and individuality, there are no boundaries.
