SET among the d’Histoire Naturelle grounds, Givenchy SS17 took a futuristic approach to its ambiance and open-air surroundings – creating one of the most picture-perfect locations, that Paris Fashion Week has seen. Bordered with floating lanterns, Riccardo Tisci had guests accessorised in silver foil Mylar wraps (shielding them from the cool October air), that reflected in the mirrored runway.
Models where garnished with oversized crystal jewellery that swung from tortoiseshell chains, matching the carved crystal prints on silk slip dresses. Considering the show was held at the Museum of Mineralogy, it gave a sense of reiki throughout … fashion with a healing touch.
Multi-coloured polka-dot, kaleidoscope placement prints and block colour (pink, black, and red) where all seen on the body-con silhouette, creating sharp-cut tailoring. With the hair super slicked, and strappy red stilettos with practical ankle socks, both feminine and masculine trends are present. Although the pointed collars and a sprinkle of riffles was likable, the element of youth culture was neglected throughout this collection – that obtains that extra threshold!
