PFW SS19: Chloé

DREAMING of a bohemian break? Look no further than Chloé. Since Natacha Ramsay-Levi joined the French house three seasons ago, the modern hippie has taken centre stage on fashion’s frontier. Ease is emitted across any look, yet there is a crafted form of finish and styling that allows one to easily spot a Chloé girl from a mile away. For SS19, Ramsay Levi’s vision for the French brand continued in her trendy hippie saga. How so? She embarked on a Mediterranean getaway – via Paris Fashion Week – with key pieces clad in print and finished with silk. Aka: a dreamy sartorial escape.

Chloé’s clothing getaway for SS19 began like this: a long silk gown of an earthly beige hue, structured with just one sleeve and finished with a belted, sarong style skirt. The attachment was clad in paisley print, nodding to the land of Morocco, as Ramsay-Levi had noted prior to the show. Paired with brown slides, long, sculptural earrings and slick back hair – the boho tone was set. And it was to continue with force. Following the silk gown starter was a print proclamation. From head-to-toe, eye-pleasing patterns ran along the runway, structured through two piece ensembles, jackets, minidresses – just about anything, really. The message was clear: ’tis the season for scarf sensuality.

That scarf sensibility rang throughout the collection, but not in a dull manner that felt forced for the brighter seasonal backdrop. To note: bohemian print is a proclaimed code of Chloé’s persona, and when it accompanies island-inspired features (loose, logo-embossed t-shirts, ropes around waists and platform sandals) – the verdict is sure to be a winner. Why? Because it remains fresh, fashionable and wearable. Simplified looks were served too, from cami-topped jumpsuits, to woven grey dresses, to a white robe which concluded the show. As for accessories, Ramsay-Levi made sure to debut designs that would cause Chloé fanatics to swoon – heart eyes emoji style. Namely: logo embossed mini clutches that are likely to become it-bags as soon as they hit shelves.

So what is it about the boho-style that constitutes its eternal chicness? For an answer catered to our generation, the current credibility derives much from the house of Chloé. According to Natacha Ramsay-Levi, its about knowing exactly how to pair pretty pieces of clothing together in a way that effuses a laid-back and informed approach to dress – stylishly and synonymously. So for SS19, grab those paisley printed garments, loosely-woven belts, sculptural jewellery, and your inner modern goddess is set to surface. A bohemian blessing! Cheers Chloé.
