PFW SS20: Isabel Marant

SINCE its inception in 1994, Isabel Marant has been known for its bohemian style and the SS20 show for PFW reinforced this distinctive aesthetic. Walking to Brazilian electro music, models weaved through paths of onlookers in the gardens of the Palais Royal.

A summer festival spirit was instilled into the show by loose fitting clothing – blue dungarees, striped ponchos and oversized boilersuits in a warm terracotta shade flooded the runway. Jackets were big shouldered to emphasise the carefree feel of the collection. Tassel earrings adorned models’ ears and sandals with interlacing ribbons wrapped around the ankle were worn on the feet. However, the most significant accessory was the glowing skin of the models, a perfect allusion to sunshine days spent in fresh air with good food and good friends.

Towards the end of the show, the varied colours of the collection faded to black, and studded leather replaced billowing paisley. Looks became more centred around evening wear, with hints of sparkle and a decidedly edgier vibe, perfect for dancing the night away  – whether in Paris or Copacabana.
