PERCHED on a private peninsula overlooking the turquoise waters of the La Maddalena Archipelago, 7Pines Resort Sardinia offers a very different side to the Costa Smeralda. While this corner of northern Sardinia is often synonymous with superyachts, glamorous marinas and celebrity hotspots, I quickly discover that the resort has carved out a quieter identity. Here, luxury isn’t about being seen; it’s about slowing down.
7Pines Resort Sardinia
Surrounded by pine trees, fragrant Mediterranean gardens and hidden coves, the boutique resort blends effortlessly into its natural surroundings. With just 75 rooms and suites spread across 15 hectares, there’s an immediate sense of space. Instead of bustling hotel corridors, I wander along winding pathways that lead to panoramic viewpoints and peaceful terraces where the soundtrack is little more than the gentle movement of the sea.
My suite feels more like a private retreat than a hotel room, with a separate living area opening onto a terrace – with a view looking out towards the sea, it’s impossible not to unwind. Natural woods, soft textures and understated Mediterranean details keep the interiors connected to the landscape.

Spazio by Franco Pepe offers a relaxed introduction to the resort’s culinary offering, with its poolside setting lending itself to long, unhurried meals. Italian comfort food is elevated through exceptional local ingredients, from handcrafted pizzas and homemade pasta to fresh seasonal produce. The atmosphere is informal and easy-going, making it the kind of place where lunch can naturally turn into a leisurely afternoon or dinner stretch well into the evening.

At the more elevated end of the resort’s dining offering, Capogiro, awarded a Michelin Star for 2026, presents Executive Chef Pasquale D’Ambrosio’s contemporary interpretation of Sardinian cuisine. Seasonality and sustainability are central to the menu, with local ingredients transformed into beautifully balanced dishes that celebrate the island’s culinary heritage without feeling overly elaborate. Each course is carefully considered, while the panoramic setting adds another layer to the experience.
Chef D’Ambrosio’s approach can also be experienced more personally through the resort’s hands-on cooking experience. Guests can learn how to make fresh pasta from scratch before using it to create traditional Italian dishes under the chef’s guidance. It offers an insight into the care and craftsmanship behind the resort’s cuisine, with the best part coming afterwards: sitting down to enjoy what we’ve created together.

Away from dining, Pure Seven Spa provides a quiet retreat among the gardens, with treatments inspired by the surrounding landscape and a philosophy centred on restoration. After a deeply relaxing treatment, I take time to move between the spa’s calming spaces, embracing the slower rhythm that comes to define much of the stay.
Throughout the resort, there’s a quiet confidence that sets it apart. The recently awarded Michelin Star, four Forbes Travel Guide Stars and commitment to sustainable hospitality speak for themselves, yet none of these achievements dominate the guest experience. Instead, what lingers most are the simpler moments: lingering over breakfast with sea views, walking between hidden coves, watching the changing colours of the Mediterranean from the rooftop at sunset, or finding complete stillness at the spa.

For travellers looking to experience the Costa Smeralda beyond its glamorous reputation, 7Pines Resort Sardinia offers something refreshingly different. It celebrates the island through exceptional food, thoughtful wellness and a genuine connection to its surroundings, proving that some of the greatest luxuries are found not in extravagance, but in having the time and space to simply enjoy where you are.
