NYFW SS18: Tom Ford

TOM FORD has returned to NYFW this year, after cancelling his planned presentations at NYFW this past year. He has made quite the mark on his return, as well as adopting the “see-now-buy-now” model.

Kicking NYFW SS18 off, Ford debuted a collection featuring a variety of cuts and combinations, that saluted his previous collections … as well as the ‘90s. Not to mention sequins, and metallics that shimmered on today’s top supermodels such as Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner. In the crowd was an “army of millennials” according to Vanessa Friedman’s twitter, and non other than; Kim Kardashian.

The collection itself displayed lots of fuchsias and shoulder bones, a Tom Ford signature, as well as short haircuts and smoky eyes. And of course, the women’s suit, Tom Ford’s most powerful weapon, layered with matching bras and bottoms … reminding all of us why we missed Tom Ford’s presence at NYFW so much.

Tom Ford’s ability to capture sex-appeal and dominance is what keeps him on top of the fashion world. Ford also has the ability to combine the youth and innovation within fashion, with the unattainable and classic.

During Ford’s NYFW absence, he managed to create an award-winning film, Nocturnal Animals, and launch many new perfumes. Despite his constant reign of success outside the fashion world, Tom Ford was truly missed at fashion week. For SS18, Tom Ford’s show was the best form of a celebration, which made us all nostalgic for his days resurrecting Gucci, and his infamous take on 90s glam.
