UNDERCOVER celebrates 35th anniversary with new Levi’s collaboration

IN CELEBRATION of UNDERCOVER’s 35th anniversary, this Japanese brand has teamed up once again with Levi’s® to launch a collaborative collection.

Established in 1990 by Jun Takahashi, UNDERCOVER has become known for its distinctive aesthetic that merges high fashion, streetwear, and underground influences, and the second Levi’s® x UNDERCOVER collection exudes this look.

Drawing influences from both brands’ heritage, this 9-piece line showcases detailed craftsmanship and design elements with the Pinnacle Type II Trucker Jacket that’s been reimagined by Jun Takahashi with detachable zip detailing, nodding to UNDERCOVER’s AW98 collection.

While other items are adorned with zigzag patterns are inspired by archival UNDERCOVER graphics from 2003. It wouldn’t be a Levi’s® collaboration without jeans, and there are two pairs in this collection, a 501® Jean and Baggy Jean which mirror the composition, wash, and design details of the Trucker Jackets.

Rounding off the collection are three short and long tees depicting developed from cotton jersey fabrics, with printed zigzag patterns, embroidered graphic techniques and archival references.

To mark the launch, there’s an accompanying campaign that features Flea, bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, photographed in his Malibu home by his daughter, Clara Balzary. Embodying the line, his rebellious styles and unfiltered creativity make him the ideal mean for the job.
