Ann Veronica Janssens’ debut during Hong Kong’s Art Basel

Five selected sculptures from the British-born contemporary artist Ann Veronica Janssens will arrive at the Axel Vervoordt Gallery next month, in time for Hong Kong’s Art Basel week. This solo exhibition marks Janssens’ debut in Hong Kong and a continued effort from the Antwerp based gallery’s commitment to bridge artistic expressions between east and west.

The work of Ann Veronica Janssens masters a play on perspective and spacial awareness, challenging the interpretation of sensory experiences by inviting the onlooker to participate with the work for a unique personal view.

Janssens plays with shape, form and material through the use of gold and glass. Of particular interest will be Janssens’ Magic Mirror which diffracts light, thus projecting colour into space. Although appearing pink in surface colour, the mirror is in fact colourless, requiring the reflection of the viewer to create colour compositions.
