ROUGE Noir was introduced back in 1994, when nail artist Heidi Morawetz mixed black and red polish backstage at Chanel’s Autumn/ Winter ready-to-wear show. History was made as the shade quickly became one of the most recognisable in modern beauty, and an ever-occurring reference within Chanel’s makeup history.
Nana Komatsu for Chanel’s Rouge Noir Beauty Collection 2026
Now, hitting the year with a new launch, Chanel has debuted its Rouge Noir Beauty Collection, a limited-edition makeup line developed by Ammy Drammeh, Global Makeup Creative Partner and member of the Comètes Collective. The campaign, fronted by Japanese actress and model Nana Komatsu, offers shade in various forms for the eyes, lips, and complexion.
The launch centres on the Rouge Noir Confidence multi-use palette, which brings together magenta, pearly rosy white, sienna red with pink shimmer, and mauve pink for use across eyes, cheeks, and face, alongside Les Pinceaux Rouge Noir, a three-brush set. The eye offering includes the Ombre Essentielle duo in Gris Rose and Brun Rose, Noir Allure mascara, and Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner in Rouge Noir and Gris Graphite, with Baume Essentiel in the shade Cute for the complexion.
