Chanel reveals inspiration behind make-up looks for their Fall/Winter 2022/2023 Ready-to-Wear show

CHANEL’S FW 22/23 Ready-to-Wear show showed a collection that celebrated the brand’s use of tweed. “Devoting the entire collection to tweed is a tribute. We followed the footsteps of Gabrielle Chanel along the River Tweed, to imagine tweeds in the colours of this landscape,” explains Virginie Viard.

With such great focus on the clothes as well as the patterns and different colours of the tweed, the make-up looks had to complement and fit the inspiration of the tweed yet be subtle enough to avoid taking away attention from the clothing.

To achieve this, the make-up for the show was echoing colours of the 1960s with doll-eyed mascara, soft rosy cheeks, and glossy lips.

For the iconic 1960s doll-eye look, the make-up artists used Le Volume de Chanel in the colour 10 Noir, the cheeks were giving its natural pink flush through Joues Contraste in colours 64 Pink Explosion  or 72 Rose Initial, and the lips received a shiny makeover with Chanel’s Rouge Coco Flash in shades 82 Live or 90 Jour.
