David Koma presents his Pre-Fall 2023 collection

AS DAVID Koma once said, “Women are the most powerful creatures in the world”. He is well known for seizing his inspiration from the beauty of a female form and showcasing it through his distinctive designs with ultra-body contouring silhouettes.

Staying consistent with his signature creative processes is that Koma likes to emphasize strong and confident women who are brave in expressing different qualities of feminity and are not afraid to take over male-dominated fields. To no exception, for the Pre-Fall 2023 collection, the designer looked at DeeDee Ann Jonrowe –  a female record holder of the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, who has fearlessly ventured into the arctic wilderness with her 4 husky companions.

One of the key inspirations was DeeDee’s puffer jacket dress featuring a distinctive ruffle trim, which sets the trend for the season’s modern take on uniform attire worn by polar explorers. The Koma Girl this season is transformed into a fierce snow queen who explores the Arctic wilderness sporting clothing that embodies her fearless spirit and mirrors the raw, natural splendour of the untouched polar regions.

The collection includes a variety of luxurious and functional pieces, such as hooded cropped jackets, mini puffer dresses with crystallised necklines, and maxi skirts adorned with plush Mongolian shearling. Additionally, this year’s release showcases chunky knit mini skirts, cropped cardigans, and oversized dresses embellished with soft fringing.

To evoke the feeling of danger and protection against the polar elements, Koma created voluminous leather bombers, motor-style padded leather coats, corseted mini dresses, and fitted jackets and coats made from utilitarian classic blue denim.

Overall, the collection’s aesthetic is a blend of delicate and rugged elements making it a triumph of modern elegance and femininity. The designer managed to create a collection that is both powerful and refined, and that is sure to be in favour of many women all over the world.
