Dior unveils the Artistry behind Motif Plan de Paris

FOR Dior‘s SS23 ready-to-wear collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri has drawn on the brand’s long-standing ties to the French capital to create a poetic design that celebrates the city’s most iconic locations.

Inspired by a scarf created by Christian Dior in the 1950s, the Plan de Paris design invites us to explore the streets and monuments that unite Dior and the City of Light.

Using an infinitely meticulous process, the delicate sketches of the Plan de Paris design are applied to a square of silk, resulting in a stunning visual effect that is reminiscent of a magnificent painting.

This same attention to detail can be seen in the Dior Ateliers’ exclusive, innovative three-dimensional embroidery technique used on the iconic Dior Book Tote. The result is a stunning display of graphic nuances that celebrate the magical meandering of the city’s streets and landmarks.

From Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, where Christian Dior first stumbled upon his lucky star, to the iconic address of 30 Avenue Montaigne, the Plan de Paris design highlights the House’s longstanding connection to the city and the excellence of its savoir-faire. The interplay of shading and perspectives brings the City of Light to life in a way that only Dior can achieve.
