Fendi restore and reimagine Rome’s legendary Villa Medici

THE ROMAN Couture house Fendi has partnered with the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici to re-enchant its mystical halls, exemplifying its historic allure while introducing a contemporary design vision.

Supported by the Mobilier National, a French institution that has supported the arts since the 17th century, Fendi have reimagined a total of six salons in the Villa, including the Grand Salon. Centring motifs of colour, the rooms are entirely transformed, yet not in a way that strays from their ancient significance, as the house were sure to implement careful conservation and restoration techniques.

With the assistance of the Fendi architecture department, co-creative directors Silvia Venturini Fendi (menswear and accessories) and Kim Jones (womenswear and couture) morph their artistic visions, alongside those of collaborators Chiara Andreatti and Toan Nguyen to name but a few.

The refurbishment is completed with an updated acoustic sound system created by partners Devialet, ensuring the Villa can be experienced with optimum clarity and last for decades to come.
