Glass discovers Alexander McQueen’s trend of saturated colour for AW21

THE typical autumn-winter collection is painted with a palette of earthy tones stretching from light-coloured beiges to frosty blues and moody greys echoing the change of season. With the sun gone and colours beyond our wardrobe becoming darker, creative director Sarah Burton took a different approach to the Alexander McQueen menswear AW21 collection. Infusing bold contrasts into the collection, saturated colours bring some optimism into this season.

This contemporary take on the usual outerwear must-haves see a cropped puffer jacket designed in chrome green and finished with a graffiti gloss on the back and a funnel neck zip cardigan on the inside. The McQueen technique of hybridity shines through here as wool and cashmere chunky knit accompany poly faille – a fabric made from 100% recycled material.

Continuing with the theme of strong knitwear it is time to put away the classic coloured cardigans, and pick up an electric red thick-knitted cashmere piece from McQueen, or for those not ready to give block colour a go, a collarless bib designed shirt in white cotton poplin is finished with a red detailing to give the more conservative look some fun.

There has been no better time to be bright than when coming out of a time of darkness.
