Glass encounters modern French glamour at Hotel Lutetia

LOCATED in the iconic Saint-Germain district of Paris, renowned for its charming cafes and fashionable boutiques, Hotel Lutetia emerges as a timeless symbol of luxury and elegance, standing proudly amid the vibrant city buzz.

An immediate aura of glamour envelops me as I step into the hotel’s grand lobby. A geometric glass chandelier, suspended above my head, softly illuminates the bright, ivory interiors, a testament to the recent modernisation led by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, which seamlessly blends the hotel’s rich history, restoring its Art Deco features with Italian marble and dark eucalyptus wood.

Josephine Baker Suite

Spanning seven floors within a distinctive 1910s building, the hotel offers 184 rooms, including 44 impressive suites, a Presidential suite, and two penthouse suites with breathtaking 360-degree views of Paris. I watch the gleaming Eiffel Tower towering above the lines of bars scattered along the Left Bank.

After settling into my room, I embark on exploring Lutetia’s gastronomic offerings. Bar Joséphine, with its famous signature cocktail list, proves to be the buzzing spot among both hotel guests and locals. Sipping on my glass of Lutetia Tattinger, exclusive to the hotel, I admire a historic fresco stretching across the tall ceiling.

As I make my way into Brasserie Lutetia, I succumb to the allure of this often fully-booked restaurant. Featuring the delectable French staples and more unique offerings like Sole Meunière with champagne sauce, the culinary journey is a symphony of flavours in an elegant yet laid-back environment.

After planning my next day’s shopping experience at Le Bon Marché with the concierge, I end my day at Lutetia’s Akasha Spa discreetly nestled in tunnels of the hotel. After a refreshing swim in the turquoise pool and a dip in the infinity-edge jacuzzi, I am calm and utterly relaxed, wrapped snugly in a soft hotel robe and eagerly anticipating the next couple days immersed in the authentic Parisian experience.
