Glass enjoys a memorable stay in Courchevel at Hotel Barrière Les Neiges

EMBARKING on a winter escapade, our stay at Hotel Barrière Les Neiges Courchevel commences with a chauffeur-driven ride from Geneva Airport, winding through the majestic mountain landscapes overlooking Lake Geneva.

Outside Barriere Les Neiges

As we traverse through Courchevel town en route to the property, the smattering of high-end boutiques and grandeur of the mountains set the scene of opulence ahead of the winter wonderland awaiting us.

Upon stepping into the Junior Prestige Suite, we are immediately transported into a chalet-inspired haven with the timeless allure of timber and warmth of faux fur accents. Every amenity adds a touch of indulgence, distinguished by the ‘B’ Barrière monogram.

Deluxe Suite

With the push of a button, the room’s electric blinds treat us to breathtaking views of the surrounding Alpine peaks. Situated as a piste-side property, Hotel Barrière boasts ski-in and ski-out capabilities, allowing us the convenience of hitting the slopes directly from our doorstep. The attention to detail extends to the ski room, where staff provide an extensive service for boot and ski fittings – each morning you will find your skis placed on the slopes and flagged with your room number.

Loulou

After an exhilarating day on the slopes, complimentary teas, coffees and génépy (an herbal liqueur popularised in the Alpine regions) await us, adding a delightful touch to our après-ski. We reach unique viewing spots such as Saulire’s 2,740m peak with panoramic views of Les 3 Vallées. The ability to end the day skiing through the woodland of Bellecôte, leading straight into hotel’s ski room, is convenience personified.

On our final evening, we dine at recently opened Loulou, the Parisian restaurant now gracing Courchevel. Tucked behind a curtain and spread across two floors, Loulou dazzles with its refined ambiance. Highlights include the irresistibly delicate pasta al pomodoro, followed by an indulgent dessert buffet featuring my personal favourite, the silky Italian panna cotta. Paired with exquisite Piedmont wines, it was the perfect indulgence to elevate our spirits before our last day on the slopes.
