Glass enjoys a stay at The Other House, South Kensignton

WITH rumours circling about the new collaboration between The Other House, South Kensington and Marie Soliman, co-founder of the globally renowned Bergman Design House, I am eager for this city break away in the heart of London.

Upon entry to the building, I can see how this has become one of the UK’s most stylish destinations for the interiors scream luxury alongside their romantic and gothic style codes. Humble lighting and gold accents bring to life the deep reds, blacks, and teals of the lobby which makes the place feel like something from a prized Pinterest board.

There’s a strong feeling of adventure amongst this hotel as each room feels completely unique and the animal print details aid this sincerely. I spot a magnitude of jungle prints in bright, saturated colours throughout, and even monkey ornaments add a bit of extra fun.

As I make my way to my room, staying in one of the Club Mezzanines, I pass wonderful array of bespoke 18th century oil paintings, learning that there is over 100 more to see. Matching the rest of the internal theme, the paintings follow a humorous a playful energy that breathes a fresh life into the hotel, all of which founded by Soliman.

Once I’m in my room, I’m taken back by the floor to ceiling windows, and even though we are only on the first floor there is still a beautiful view from outside. The light really helps to bring more life into the room with its dazzling sun-trap and lead perfectly into the kitchen/dining area.

The Club Mezz is the most characterful in the Club Collection and has a funky open plan bedroom on a separate floor, where you can watch more of the outside. The king sized bed is probably one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept on and I already can’t wait to relax in it later.

As I’d arrived later in the day, I’m ready to head down to their on-site destination bar named The Owl & Monkey, which specialises in bold mixologists and sharing plates.

Following the animal theme, I decide to go for one of their Signature Cocktails, Monkey See, Monkey Do, which consists of Bumbu Rum, umeshu, yuzu sake, clarified milk, freshly squeezed pineapple juice, white chocolate covered raisins, Two Drifters and Overproof Spiced Pineapple Rum.

It was a match made in heaven with our Cured Channel Sea Bream that is accompanied by lime and chilli marinade, coriander and basil.

As we graze amongst this divine eatery, we spend the rest of the evening trialing more signature specials and exotic food combos. This place is definitely a London one-of-its-kind.
