IT IS crucial that the relationship between a brand’s creative director and its artisans is intimate. For one, in the skilful hands of the embroiderers at the esteemed embroidery house Maison Lesage, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s aesthetic vision for Dior Haute Couture can be transformed into reality. In this instance, Chiuri also took inspiration from Lesage’s sweeping archives, breathing new life into archival pieces by reproducing them in the modern day. Historic embroidery is remade for the now with extensive research by Maison Lesage, as if they were just stolen in time. If anything, the end product tells us that a strong relationship between couturier and artisan can yield magical and timeless things indeed.
