Glass explores Roger Vivier’s AW23 collection

THE AW23 collection from Roger Vivier, named The Legendary Silhouette, celebrates the brand’s history of creating sculptural accessories and iconic designs that have defined the Parisian sense of style. This season, the creative director Gherardo Felloni pays homage to the legendary designer’s legacy, bringing a fresh approach to the brand’s long-standing connection with couture.

The presentation of the collection takes place in a Parisian townhouse that features a carrousel showcasing the couture presentations of the 1950s. The designs showcase the brand’s signature Choc heel, which first launched in 1959 and has since become a defining feature of Roger Vivier’s designs. The heel’s inverted structure, borrowing from both art and fashion, creates a unique expression that has set the brand apart.

In the AW23 collection, the Choc heel is paired with ethereal and masterful techniques like draping, flounces, and embroidery to create a special aura that is unique to Vivier’s creations. The Viv’ Choc Me bag, another iconic piece from the Maison, is crafted from supple leather, soft and silky like velvet, and topped with a rounded buckle that reflects the curves of the Choc heel.

This release is a tribute to the legendary silhouette created by the brand’s founder, Roger Vivier. Felloni’s innovative approach to integrating the techniques and materials of Haute Couture into the collection ensures that Roger Vivier remains at the forefront of fashion, just as its founder did over half a century ago.
