Upon my arrival to the 16th-century property, I check into my room for the next couple of nights: a newly refurbished suite with an elegant and homely look.
Elevated with sumptuous furnishings, including a four-poster bed, cosy armchairs and contemporary fabrics, the room is positioned with a view of the Victorian-era topiary garden and tiered fountain.

Offering a blend of traditional and modern, Billesley Manor is located just three miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, tucked away in 11 acres of rural countryside, and boasts 71 bedrooms, a first-class health club and spa with a host of beauty treatments, a grand reception area and a library, said to be where William Shakespeare wrote his famous comedy As You Like It.
After a day exploring the grounds, I enjoy a seasonal menu at the hotel’s Stuart Restaurant. Complete with original 16th-century oak panelling, period fireplaces, historic paintings and grand chandeliers, the vast space is the perfect setting to enjoy the hotel’s selection of English and Continental classics.

The following day, the delights continue with an afternoon tea in the Grand Hall. Displayed on a three-tiered stand, the mouth-watering offering is a foodie’s dream with a selection of finger sandwiches, mini tarts, chocolate eclairs, warm scones and a crisp glass of bubbles to add an extra touch of decadence to the English treat.

I conclude my stay by unwinding in the recently refurbished Decleor spa. Complete with a pool, sauna, and yoga hut, the sanctuary is the ideal location to wallow in the hotel’s extraordinary facilities.
