Glass takes a closer look at Dior’s SS25 couture collection

CREATING a new reality for the Dior spring-summer 2025 couture show, Maria Grazia Chiuri produces an array of new meanings that are shaped by slight mutations through a series of metamorphosis’s in design.

With shape at the heart of this collection, the designer drew inspiration from the Trapèze line, first seen in 1958 by the then-creative director Yves Saint Laurent. Taking this influential cut and bringing it to a new wonderland, she plays hide-and-seek with its evolution, crafting new compositions and returning the Cigale silhouette from 1952 to the runway too. Emphasising contrasts through an interplay of floral motifs and fierce headpieces, the couture is underpinned in its attention to detail and display of its atelier’s savoir-faire ability.
