Paula Knorr’s AW18 collection, presented during LFW, celebrates the sensuality of female dressing, taking inspiration from the wide range of womenswear clothing available to us. From extremely revealing to conservatively demure, Knorr utilises the board choice of womenswear styles to portray what she feels is sensual and empowering dressing.
Garments in the collection range from turtlenecks to oversized trousers, celebrating the natural contours of the female form through close cut dresses and figure-hugging fit. Bias-cut draping follows the model’s natural curves, exuding femininity through silhouette and dramatic aesthetic. Asymmetry is used in excess, high-low hemlines and an abundance of one shoulder dresses and tips, pushing the power dressing influence.
Tonal reds make up the majority of the collection, amplifying the theme through the colour’s association with sensuality. Clashed with metallic silvers and champagne gold, use on shining materials adds an empowering edge and touches on an ‘80s inspiration that’s amplified through the styling choices. Textured sequins and lightweight tulle contribute to the collections femininity, with fabric manipulation promoting the collections attention to detail.
