This season in London, Phoebe English premiered her SS16 collection. The entire collection was raw, slightly undone and full of texture. It sticks with the basics of English’s style while experimenting with fabrics and technique.
For the first section of the collection, every piece is in either black or white. There was a small phase in of other neutral tones at times and splatters of crimson at the end. English’s collection experiments with layering (much like her AW15 outing) mostly by adding in sheets of mesh and other sheer fabrics, garlands, and woven appliques. It’s a unique contribution to fashion.
Generally, the collection has a lot of bandaging, cut outs, draping and mainly tests the boundaries of how architectural fabric can be while still being wearable. English definitely follows her own beat in creating a quirky yet wearable collection for spring.
