LFW SS20: Erdem

WESTERN style with vaquero undertones, Erdem SS20 for LFW was a celebration of prairie dresses, silk scarves and broad-rimmed hats.

Established in London in 2005, Erdem has come to be synonymous with powerful femininity and known for founder Erdem Moralioglu’s experimental textiles, vibrant prints and detailed craftsmanship. The new collection builds on this tradition, showcasing cotton dresses with cut out detailing, silken paisley skirts and striped, woven ponchos. Prints were layered to create a striking effect.

The silhouettes hark back to nineteenth century America – layered skirts, elbow-length gloves and high-necked dresses with puffed shoulders that wouldn’t look out of place on a ranch or the back of a horse. Thick soled shoes helped to accentuate the western style of the pieces and transformed the gravel pathway into a highway through the frontier.

Hair was kept short or was middle parted and drawn back into a low braid, tied with a black ribbon. Make up was minimal with brushed out brows and a delicate peach toned blush.

The Erdem SS20 collection was a fanciful flurry from the Wild West and as usual, fixated the eyes of all onlookers.
