Louis Vuitton debuts Pre-Spring 2021 Men’s collection

“WHAT makes our intentions resonate with our broad audience?” asks the press notes of Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Spring 2021 collection. To determine just that, Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh has channelled values of diversity, unity and inclusion into a beautifully-crafted line-up of wardrobe staples for his latest pre-collection.

Centring around the weather-oriented requirements of everyday life, the collection takes on a moody colour palette of cream, raven-black, beige and azure inspired by the dark shades of high winter.

A timeless take on Louis Vuitton’s flower monogram features throughout, embroidered onto a cherry-red shearling jacket and quilted onto rain-ready gilets while, a new camouflage leaf monogram appears splashed across jacquard trousers, windbreakers and an assortment of denim.

Abloh’s signature suiting embraces elements of workwear and pyjamas this season, boasting cut-out details achieved through an innovative gouging technique. Chunky intarsia knits and pastel-coloured T-shirts come accessorised with rain hats and berets while, a new semi-transparent trainer – built with a shock absorber sole – takes centre stage alongside sturdier, winter-centric takes on the derby and Chelsea boot.

Derived from AW20’s pastel print, a multi-coloured toile monogram punctuates textile Keepal bags, with a monochrome version featuring on flap trunk messengers, Christopher backpacks and various iterations of the brand’s Discovery bag.

As is to be expected, Abloh’s press notes best encapsulate the essence of his Pre-Spring 2021 collection – this is “fashion designed to last, consciously as well as materially.”
