MFW AW21: Vivetta

FOR Milan fashion week, Vivetta transports us to a surreal world of divergent energies – a flurry of realism and absurdity – yet allows us to reach a sense of harmony beyond the chaos. Channelling the tranquillity and beauty of nature, Vivetta’s AW21 collection is vibrant burst of creativity.

In collaboration with Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker, Vivetta presents its collection in a simplistic video. With an orange backdrop and a combination of close-up shots and upside-down camera angles, accompanied by ethereal music, the video truly allows the pieces to take centre stage.

Here, the 1920s and 1990s meet and fuse together to form a floral print, which becomes the collection’s main attraction. A vintage and surrealist concoction of oranges, pinks, yellows and greens, this design finds itself imprinted on a number of pieces. From trapeze and midi dresses to A-line jackets, the expressive energy is certainly felt.

Vivetta would not be Vivetta without its trompe-l’oeil and surreal accents. Large collars frequent the collection, where one is of a floral cut-out; a sweatshirt’s laces are replaced with blonde braids; shirts are lengthened and become quilted coats; fading materials reveal a heart design. It is clear Vivetta’s creativity has no boundaries.

Vivetta’s collection reminds us that even in the confines of lockdown and an unpredictable world, there is always an abundance of beauty on our doorstep offering a perfect piece of solace.
