MFW SS18: Alberta Ferretti

WITH the deep vocals of Grace Jones’ Slave to the Rhythm ricocheting around the pillars of Milan’s Rotonda della Besana, Alberta Ferretti’s SS18 collection is all elegance and splendour. Sunbathed in golden afternoon light, the models walked Ferretti’s collection with glowing skin and playfully curled hair.

Sequins glistened and feathers ruffled as the likes of Gigi and Bella Hadid, Barbara Palvin and Karlie Kloss walked for Ferretti. Studded jelly sandals and jet-black bathing suits with crossover straps paired with oversized jackets gave a firm nod to the athleisure trend. Chiffon dresses that clung to the female form in the most elegant of manners were also heavily featured.

Rounded, somewhat Grecian necklines and thick leather straps made for a play between Greek goddess and farmer’s wife, neither the most fashionable of statements. Yet, by far the best parts to the collection were the beige feather details, fitted trousers and sheer glistening material with a mermaid vibe.
