Milan Menswear SS16: Canali

This season at Canali the menswear house has commendably separated itself from some more gender-warped-led trends appearing on the catwalk, singling itself out as the menswear force it is widely renowned as. Creative director Andrea Pompilio staged a pleasing show of traditionally tailored ensembles given a fun spin with a variety of luxury fabrics and concurring colour schemes.

Incidentally Pompilio did also extend the more sedate theme to embrace a little utility, for the sporting gent that is, and the Canali take on a safari-esque suit was a welcome entrant.

The overruling tradition then played into some chic smoking suit creations that blazed a memorable final trail by the time the collection came to a close. This was by no means a revolutionary road, obviously, but Pompilio’s aim to look back and cherry-pick what would work best for Canali in 2015 was quite inspired.
