MIU MIU’s latest advertising campaign for Fall/Winter entitled Preservation Hall and Other Stories transports us deep into the American South.

The dreamy collages by photographer Alasdair McLellan, who has worked with the Italian fashion house on four previous campaigns, were shot in the port of New Orleans, Louisiana. Miu Miu described the recent fashion compendium in their press release as “a celebration of clashes in tone and texture”.

The collection features vibrant faux-fur coats, hats and shoes in a colourful feast for the eyes, ankle length patterned dresses, and dazzling earrings and headpieces all with a backdrop of the landscapes and landmarks of New Orleans from the untamed Mississippi bayou to the Preservation Hall whose Brass Band also make an appearance.
A diverse array of powerful female faces including award winning actress Naomie Harris, super model Kate Moss, Jean Campbell, Eliza Cumming, Missy Rayder, Jasmine Daniels and sisters Adwoa and Kesewa Aboah make up the striking cast. Katie Grand styled the campaign, Anthony Turner worked on hair and Dianne Kendall on makeup.

Juxtaposed black-and-white and saturated colour photographs, soft faux fur and glistening jewellery, landmarks and landscapes, the old and the contemporary cleverly come together to create a captivating image somehow both timeless and avant garde.
